About us
The Division of Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases and Laboratory Medicine was established in 2006. Dr. Akihiko Okayama, Professor of Medicine, supervises this division. We have 12 medical doctors working for research, education and clinical works in University of Miyazaki Hospital. In addition, we collaborate with many institutions and hospitals in Miyazaki prefecture.
Education and Training
Training programs are designed for postdoctoral physicians, scientists, and for graduate students.
Speciality / subspeciality
Many staffs have certifications from the following scientific and medical societies.
Certification: The Japanese society of Internal Medicine, Japan College of Rheumatology, The Japan Association of Infectious Diseases, The Japanese Respiratory Society, and etc.
Our Researches
Infectious diseases and rheumatic diseases are our major fields. In addition to the clinical research based on the daily medical practice, the following themes are investigating;
- The biological agents in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and human T lymphotropic virus type 1 infection.
- The genetic abnormalities in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
- The role of microvesicles in the pathogenesis of interstitial pneumonia and other respiratory disorders.
