Summary

Our lab is focused on the regulation of energy homeostasis and feeding behavior via bioactive peptides in mammals. This includes the control of neural circuit, cross talk mechanisms of periphery with central, or cell-cell communications. These studies have applications to the development of new therapies for obesity and diabetes.

Research Projects

  1. Molecular mechanisms of lipid metabolism by bioactive peptides
  2. Involvement of food texture in insulin resistance and energy metabolism
  3. Elucidation of novel regulatory systems concerning to energy homeostasis by using transgenic or nerve disrupted animals

Lab Techniques

  1. Feeding behavior and energy metabolism of animals
  2. Cell culture (adipocytes, macrophages)
  3. Molecular biology techs (quantitative PCR, DNA microarray)
  4. Antibody binding tests (ELISA, Western blotting, Immunostaining)

Collaborations

  1. National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center Research Institute, Osaka, Japan
  2. Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition Obesity Research Center, Chonbuk National University, Korea
