Today we participated in JICA job report. There were four participants from the Middle East, one from Jordan, one from Syria, and two from Afghanistan. They are all engaged in maternal and child health. At the beginning of the session, we gave a presentation about the Health Care System in Japan. The topics of the presentation were “National Health Insurance”, “Maternal and Child Health Services” and “How to become a nurse in Japan”. Following this, the participants from Jordan, Syria and Afghanistan each gave a presentation. After that, we discussed the health care system and medical system of our various countries. Each country has its own unique system and there are many differences and similarities between Japan and the Middle Eastern countries. After finishing the session, we moved to another room and held a small welcome party for the participants. We chatted casually with them and had a very nice time(. Reported by H.M )
Today, we went to the departments affiliated with Medical College of Miyazaki University to talk about our hospital to trainees of the JICA program. We conducted tours of the information desk, the Chemotherapy room for outpatient, the department of Radiology/Anesthesiology/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the pediatrics department, and the department of internal medicine2. For these tours, we prepared very hard. We often consulted with Ms.Hidaka, who is a vice-sister at this hospital. We also went to the hospital to preview and practice. Before this tour, I was very tense, because it was the first time for me to be a guide in English. When we were finished, however, one of the trainees said that we had done a “great job.” This was very encouraging and made me happy(. Reported by N.Y)
