Under the leadership of Professor Koichi Kaikita, MD, PhD, we pursue a dual academic mission: to advance discipline-specific scholarship in cardiovascular and renal medicine and to foster cross-disciplinary investigation into their shared pathophysiology. Our faculty members contribute to multicenter clinical studies, translational initiatives, and the development of clinical practice guidelines, with the aim of generating impactful knowledge, improving clinical outcomes, and training the next generation of physician-scientists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Clinical Programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The division provides advanced, multidisciplinary care across a broad spectrum of cardiovascular and renal diseases. Close collaboration with cardiovascular surgery, radiology, and intensive care units enables the integrated management of complex cases. Core areas include cardiovascular pathophysiology and therapeutics (coronary physiology, thrombosis, heart failure, structural heart disease, and cardio-renal interactions), cardio-metabolic and aging-related research (diabetes, inflammation, atherosclerosis, frailty, and nutrition), and advanced diagnostics encompassing cardiovascular imaging, hemodynamic assessment, and AI-\/radiomics-based analysis. We also conduct renal mechanistic research, including experimental models and pathology-based investigations, alongside large-scale clinical epidemiology using multicenter cohorts and nationwide databases. The division actively participates in collaborative clinical research and publishes in leading cardiovascular and nephrology journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Education and Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Education is a central pillar of the division. We provide structured training for medical students, residents and fellows, graduate students (PhD and MD-PhD programs).
